Just for Credit Union has achieved its biggest-ever growth in loans saving, up by 15%, and membership, 12%, and since 2013 the credit union has doubled in size.
Today's announcement of the record growth comes in a month which celebrates International Credit Union Day and the work carried out worldwide by credit unions for around 235 million members.
Chief Officer Karen Farrow: "The year of record growth reflects the hard work of the Just Credit Union team and the valuable support of our members as well as our many community partners. Our continuing growth shows we are meeting the needs of the people who live or work in Shropshire and Telford. But we recognise we still have a long way to go to achieve our full potential. For many countries being a member of their local credit union is the way the majority of people save and borrow which is not yet the case in this country. People can support the credit union both by borrowing and saving and all the money circulates in Shropshire which benefits the local economy.
